Welcome to Katie’s Shelf Care, a cozy corner of the internet dedicated to one of the most enjoyable activities in the world...reading. Â
Â
I’ve always believed that reading is more than just a hobby. For me, books have been a form of escape, comfort, and self care for as long as I can remember. There’s something magical about getting lost in another world for a few hours — whether that means wandering through kingdoms filled with magic and danger, surviving a dystopian rebellion, or falling in love with a character. Reading has always given me a place to recharge, reflect, and reconnect with myself. And I hope this site can help others find books that will provide the same comfort. Â

Here, you’ll find honest reviews, recommendations, reading updates, and discussions about all things bookish. So grab a blanket, a cup of coffee, and your latest read. After all, taking care of your shelf can also mean taking care of yourself.
The Reader Behind the shelf
Hi, I'm Katie, a lifelong reader and living proof that books can be a form of self-care.

By day, I'm an engineering and CAD teacher, helping students design, create, and solve problems. I love what I do, but like any job, it can be demanding. My days are filled with logic, precision, and technical thinking, which is exactly why I treasure my evenings spent immersed in stories full of magic, adventure, and imagination. There is nothing better than ending a long day curled up under a blanket with a cup of tea and a good book.

Here at Katie's Shelf Care, I share honest reviews, book recommendations, anticipated releases, and all things bookish. My favorite genres are fantasy, romance, dystopian fiction, and the occasional mystery. I'm especially drawn to slow-burn romances, found families, enemies-to-lovers dynamics, high-stakes adventures, and characters so well-developed they feel like old friends by the final page.

This space is my way of documenting my reading journey while connecting with fellow readers who turn to books for comfort, escape, inspiration, or simply a well-spent evening. Whether you're searching for your next five-star read or just looking for someone to gush about fictional characters with, you're in the right place.

Because sometimes taking care of your shelf is another way of taking care of yourself.
Currently Reading Shelf
Don't judge me but at any given point in time, I like to be reading a physical book, an e-book and an audiobook. I can read audiobooks while going on walks, cooking and doing chores around the house. I can read e-books on the treadmill or with the lights off at night. And I just love the feel of physical books. I generally listen to fiction via audiobook and fantasy/romance via e-book or physical book.Â
